The CMTP is a hybrid course, combining training packages from a selection of premier programs of instruction as well as unique courseware designed to enhance critical thinking skills and medical experience as required while operationally functioning as a military medic. Focus is placed on the scope of practice of a 68W both in a clinical setting as well as in the field. Phase 2 builds upon the baseline medical skills and knowledge obtained from Phase 1. This phase is 133 hours encompassing a total of seven (7) modules and associated written examinations, skills competency demonstration through the NREMT Psychomotor Examination, and culminates with the NREMT Computer Adaptive Test (CAT). The course consists of three phases: Phase 1 is consists of preparation and testing to obtain certification as a National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) EMT, a credential tied to the 68W MOS.
